A Lovely Year of Finishes - December Goal

I have to make a bunch of potholders, so that will be my goal for this month!  I have 2 finished, 3 in the process and 5 more pieced...but I need at least 15, maybe more!  I am linking up with Sew BitterSweet Designs for December.

My mother-in-law used to give every family a new potholder every Christmas - they were ones her mother had made - but that supply has gone dry, so I'm picking up the tradition in her place.  We love all the potholders we have from her and I hope the new ones give as much pleasure as hers have.  I am using flannel for the pieced part, a layer of batting and the backing is old towels.  Hers were cotton, batting and old towels!

Now that's another great idea! I'm kind of making a list for next year to work on each month. It was my goal this year, but ha ha! Love the design you've chosen and flannel is such a good idea! I'll start looking at thrift stores for flannel shirts and old towels. Batting scraps I have. =)

your name caught my attention as I read a comment you had made on the Ellison Lane blog.
I'm a farmer and a quilter too. Now I'm looking at your post and see that you are making beautiful potholders, lol, I'm a bit of a potholder obsessed maker too

The idea that I love the most is that you’re continuing the tradition of a potholder every year for every family member! I’m going to have to tuck that one away as a possibility.
